Aviation Diplomacy: Strengthening Ties Between Russia and Ethiopia Through Air Connectivity

Within the framework of the 2nd Economic Forum "Russia-Africa" in St. Petersburg, an Agreement on Air Communication was signed between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The document was signed by Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Igor Chalik and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Misganu Arega. This new agreement replaces the previous one signed in 1977.

*The aim of the new agreement:* to establish stable air communication between Russia and Ethiopia. Flight parameters and routes will be discussed with the participation of aviation authorities from both countries.

*The agreement also includes:*
- Mutual recognition of national laws regarding carriers.
- Collaboration in ensuring flight safety according to ICAO standards.
- Terms of operation of designated routes, airport fees, and other tariffs.

*Negotiations on transportation cooperation were also conducted with Burkina Faso at the forum.*
